Music and passion.
Swirling dancers and magical creatures.
Energetic, vital, expressive
and playful.

This is what characterizes my paintings. Mood, feelings and motion is expressed in my work, but most of all it is the light that is found most central in the images.

Light that creates contrasts to the dark, that makes the colours clearer, and - hopefully - creates emotions of joy, hope and sublimity within the viewer.

My story

I started to paint like most kids do; with water colours and bad quality brushes. I felt I had no control over the tools, adjusting errors only made the artwork even worse, and I think it's fair to say that I really hated it. So I kept to my pens & pencils.

In 1995 I met an auto didactic artist, who taught me a few tricks, lent me his oil painting gear and some step-by-step booklets. I loved the way I was in control of both the brushes and the paint for the first time in my life. It took 8 more years before I tried acrylic paint for the first time. The lack of smell and fumes from turpentine, and the shortened drying time, made this my favorite medium.

After more than 2 decades with the brushes as my tools, and no formal education within the subject art, I honestly still feel that I'm at the start of my training process.

I'm still learning; trying out new techniques, analyzing, reviewing, experimenting, failing and trying again. But the paintings I make are mine. The subject matter, the emotion, the feeling, the impact come out of my head and my heart.

I hope you enjoy the results as much as I have enjoyed the processes :)
